  • Ginger is a natural antiseptic that kills the fungi that cause dandruff. It inhibits the growth of yeast, stopping flakes, itchiness, and dandruff before they happen.
  • It reduces inflammation of the scalp as well as treats scalp acne due to its antiseptic properties.

A study published in the February 2005 issue of the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine sheds further light on the mechanisms of action that underlie ginger’s anti-inflammatory effectiveness. In this research, ginger was shown to suppress the pro-inflammatory compounds (cytokines and chemokines) produced by synoviocytes (cells comprising the synovial lining of the joints), chrondrocytes (cells comprising joint cartilage) and leukocytes (immune cells).

  • Ginger contains few circulatory agents that promote blood flow to the scalp and triggers the hair follicle and encourages new hair growth. It strengthens the hair tresses from roots to the hair tips which aids hair growth. It has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which fight many different scalp problems caused by harmful microbes.

  • Ginger roots contain potassium, magnesium, vitamins etc which helps in making your hair stronger, healthier and reduces hair fall.
  • Ginger protects our skin from free radicals that cause damages to our scalp and lead to hair loss. It has a potential antioxidant property which makes our hair healthy.
  • A study appearing in the November 2003 issue of Radiation Research found that in mice, five days treatment with ginger (10 mg per kilogram of body weight) prior to exposure to radiation not only prevented an increase in free radical damage to lipids (fats found in numerous bodily components from cell membranes to cholesterol), but also greatly lessened depletion of the animals’ stores of glutathione, one of the body’s most important internally produced antioxidants.
